So it's up to you to figure out what those keywords and keyword phrases are that your customers are already out there searching for and crafting your website's content around those.

It used to be that your website's homepage was the first page that everyone saw. It was like walking in the front door of your business. But nowadays, the vast majority of traffic comes from search engines. And search engines want to send visitors to the most relevant place based on the keywords they just typed in. This place will most likely be a page on your website that focuses on that specific keyword phrase.

By the way, this is why blogs and forums are the most powerful way to increase your website's footprint with quality content. Each blog and forum post has its own page that focuses on one specific subject (a keyword phrase). Blogs are where content is generated by you (the website owner) and forums is where content is generated by your users.
